Recap from A-Zoo animals. The children loved Sheep. They decided to make their own sheep after reading about sheep. Then, letter U really got us. We used our pokey balls to make different patterns on our letter Us. It is very important to the children's development that you let them explore new textures and materials they may have never used before. Child J let me know that our pokey "urchins" needed to be in the water. So of course, that is what we did. Then, the pokeys became urchins in our ocean and we were scuba divers with our spoons. Allowing the children to create their own stories sets the building blocks for their future.
To end out our theme, we got to see a variety of animals that a rescue center brought for us to look, and touch and learn about animals that were in our town. The children were telling me what letter each animal starts with and the sound.
Thanks to my mother Goose time curriculum the children were able to recognize and recall all the letter and sounds by listening to A-Zoo animals cd repeatedly.
