This week, we finished our winter wonderland theme. I love that with Mother Goose Time they give you all the information and great lesson plans to carry out each activity. First, C and I talked about how we could make the igloo for the penguin as shelter. I gave C the glue sticks and paper. He did amazing at putting the pieces on the glued sections. When, he was done he told me "Please put it up me." With mother goose time it allows me to use guided activities to focusing on the child and their development but carrying out the activities in a fun learning manner.
Then, we talked about Arctic Transportation. This was our daily topic poster for the day. We talked about the topic poster and what was happening. The children let me know that the dogs where pulling the man on something. We talked about how the man was on a sled. We talked about what type of dog was pulling the sled. The children then asked me if Bolt my husky could pull a sled. I let them watch a short clip on the dogs and sleds in Alaska. The children talked about the dogs and sleds for the rest of the day.
We also talked about how big rigs drive the supplies into the arctic. We talked about how they need to have large tires and sometimes chains to help the wheels turn. We, watched a video about how different tires make different kinds of marks. We decided to make tracks in our play dough. I provided the children with a variety of different cars that had a variety of tires and variety of tread on them. The children then took turns using the different cars in the dough. One child ask me if all cars can make marks or only big ones. They thought the toy monster trucks made the best track for the snow.
I love with mother goose time they take time to plan out these great curriculum that fits the needs of all my children in my program. From my 5 month old to my 12 year old. I receive Mother Goose Time for free for my honest opinion about their products and how we use them.
